Maldives Male Airport

Arrival

Arriving at Male airport is probably one of the most wonderful flights you will ever have! When you gaze out of the window, as the plane starts to descent, you will see the stunning azure blue sea with beautiful atolls scattered here and there. Prior to arrival, you will be asked to fill in an immigration card and this card must be presented to immigration upon arrival along with your passport. From Male airport holidaymakers will be transferred to their holiday islands via seaplane and speedboat.

It is a small, efficient and friendly airport. As soon as you have disembarked the plane you will enter the airport and queue for Immigration, where you will show your passport and immigration card (that you have filled in prior to landing). After Immigration you will then make your way to the arrivals carrousel to collect your luggage, you will then go through to Customs where all of your luggage (including hand luggage) will be scanned. It is illegal to bring in any type of alcohol into the Maldives. Once through Customs you will leave the terminal to find your tour operator representative, they will inform you about the transfer to your holiday island.

Outside the Arrivals Terminal you will find a coffee shop, where you can purchase refreshments while you wait for your transfer.

If you have a seaplane transfer, you will be transported via mini bus to the other side of the airport island, where you will check in for your seaplane trip.

Departure

Male airport has some excellent Duty Free shops in the Departure Lounge of the International Passenger Terminal, and you can purchase souvenirs, jewellery, cigarettes, perfume, cosmetics, and alcohol. These shops are located on the first floor after checking through the Immigration.
